If you want a seat assignment or business/first class seating, this isn’t the airline for you. There’s a lot of cost advantages and their on time departure record is pretty good.

I’ve received numerous either free drinks or pay for the first and get the refill for free.

2 checked bags for free. This works out great for golf trips. If you have issues with a bag being a little heavy, a tip at curbside check in usually makes the issue go away.

I don’t know how many time I flew on Southwest, but they changed.

The flight attendant uniforms used to be white short sleeved shirts and khaki shorts. The flight attendants loved them and so did the passengers, but they took them away.

They also used to served white zinfandel on their flights, but they took it away. I wrote them a letter asking them to bring it back, but they didn’t.

And the airline that is completely nuts stopped serving peanuts. I wish they could at least serve nuts with a big disclaimer label. How many people are allergic to peanuts anyway?

Southwest Airlines is like Las Vegas. I miss the old days. Just not the same now.

There are weight limits, of course, but I’ve never paid for a bag on SWA.

Do they charge for checked-bags? From all that I read about U.S. carriers, this sounds like one of the best I’ve read in years. Interesting….

Only the companion. Then you can “change” your flight to reprice, and then re-add the companion. I’ve done it many times. It’s a little annoying, but with some hold times on the phone, can be much quicker.

In addition to all the flexibility, the actual flight experience is so much more pleasant than coach on other airlines. The attendants are usually actually cheerful, and they frequently comp cocktails. More than once, I’ve ordered a drink and proffered my card or a drink ticket only to see the attendant wave it away with a smile.

I only fly a few times a year anymore, and I still periodically get free drink tickets in the mail for no discernible reason. If I have a choice, I fly only SWA.
